Self renewal, by default, is the act of continually reinvesting ourselves. Renewal of self means we renew our capacity to be and do things, it also means that we constantly grow ourselves. In essence it means making ourselves into better versions of ourselves.
The best way to think of self renewal is as an investment. Like any investment, its effectiveness is measured in what you get back. When we are continually renewing ourselves, we are continuously adding value to ourselves and others.
What can you do with your renewed value?
If you look at any activity or job, you see that some people seem to be able to do it much better than others. And there is a reason for that. For some, they have a stronger foundation of being and a stronger emotional intelligence, which helps them to pay attention to detail and make confident choices. It is obvious that the environment affects us. But just like the environment can be an influence, it can also be a powerful teacher. You have to constantly renew yourself.
How does renewal work?
We have three characteristics that can affect our level of renewal. People who have a stronger foundation of being are more likely to renew themselves. This renewal can be seen in other activities that we do, such as cooking. For example, some people can cook for a wide variety of palates whereas others might struggle and flub it.
Then there are the people who renew themselves naturally, while others force themselves to renew. The last category of people, do it because they feel they have to do it. A strong foundation of being has nothing to do with the actual act of renewal. For them, renewal is not a life calling. So how can they do something that makes them feel they are failing?
But like anything else, the foundation of a certain way of thinking can be harmful. That is why you will always find some that force themselves to keep doing something they are not happy doing. This mindset can sap your spirit and lead to burnout. The foundation of being a perfectionist can sap your energy. It is a foundation that leads to frustration and frustration leads to burnout.
For many people there are certain tasks that they do not have the patience to do. For example, people who feel they need to write every day on exam papers are frustrated and have to force themselves to do it. Other people might feel they need to tidy their room every day.
However the reason they force themselves to do this task is because they believe they are required to do so. The belief that they are required to tidy their room leads to them forcing themselves to tidy their room even if they do not want to tidy their room. So for some tasks, this mindset can see renewal in them, but for some tasks there is a strong compulsion to force yourself to do it.
Do not let yourself fall into this trap. Do not believe that you need to do something that you do not want to do. In order to help yourself avoid falling into this trap, below is a list of tips that may help you:
10 tips to avoid making a mistake
1. Make sure your energy is fully focused.
2. Do not overload yourself. Keep your body well hydrated and fueled at all times. Remember that hydration and fuel are two very different things. If you consume more than you can fuel up, you will not get the full effect. Try to limit yourself to what you can fuel up each day.
3. Remember that you only need a very small amount of food to fuel your body. It is the amount that you force yourself to consume that can lead to massive amounts of hunger. So it is better to consume too little than to consume too much food.
4. Do not force yourself to do things. Try to be fully aware of what you need to do and make decisions as to what you want to do. Decisions are always the right choice.
5. Keep yourself focused. Avoid distractions of all kinds. Try to be at one place and one place only. Do not switch places or zones.
6. Try to see life as an invitation. Do not ignore the calls of life. It is better to reply than not to reply.
7. In order to be the best human that you can be, you need to have a certain level of wisdom. Try to live your life with a wisdom that overcomes mistakes that you have made in the past.
8. Get a grip on your temper. Temper is human emotion and it is there to serve. You cannot just lose control of your emotions. Remember that your emotions are always watching.
9. Always remember that there is no substitute for living at the present moment. Always remember that your current emotions are your responsibility.
10. Do not be caught up with what others think of you. Be proud of yourself and always be willing to take responsibility for your emotions. Be at one place and one place only.
