5 Ways To Make Your Cat Comfortable

To make your cat comfortable is always the first thing
on the owner’s mind when they bring a cat home for the first time.
While this may be a challenge at times,
there are a few things one can do to make the cat comfortable.

Cats typically hate the cold and are not much good outdoors in cold weather.
They need to be warm to survive and this is difficult to provide for indoor cats.
However, there are a couple of ways that you can keep your cat warm indoors.

If your cat is not that comfortable in the summer in the light breezes, your cat will be fine in the winter.
Get a window with a window in the side and window panes that are wide enough so
you can let fresh air in and out of the room without him standing in the doorway and freezing.
You need to have enough room for your cat to roam and come and go as he pleases,
although he does need to have a place to sleep as well.

This will keep your cat out of harms way, which is handy when
he is prowling the house looking for the warmest place he can to be in.
You could choose a window blind, as he may not like that he is blind.
However, he will eventually get used to it and like it.
The screen would also keep the snow from blowing outside of the house and onto the sidewalk.

Another option to consider are heating pads.

These are available at most pet stores.
As long as your cat likes them, they will work great.
An even better idea is the solar heat pad, which looks a lot like a heating pad but works and runs on the sun’s heat.
Many people have these and they work great.
There are some who even have their heaters turned on all the time, to keep your cat warm.

Get him the heated shelf.

This is great for the colder months.
You need to get it made by your contractor and have it attached to the wall,
so that it is angled, so that the heat is directed toward your cat, and not into your hand.
You can use double-sided tape to secure it to the wall, as well.

A bed is another idea for your cat.

The beds are made by hot air blankets. Some come with attached pillows.
These will keep your cat quite and warm, if they want it,
and will be very useful if you have more than one cat. I do not suggest buying a heating pad,
unless you have a long wall where you can put it.
They need to be close to the cat so that it will get a chance to warm up.
A heated cat bed is a good idea. Also, a heated table, which is basically a kitty heater for the table.

When you have to be gone, like for work, or school, leave your cat in a room.
Even if you work from home, it is good to have your cat near you.
It will be able to see you, so it will know that something is up.

Get your cat properly trained

One of the first things you need to do, if you have a pet, is to get them trained.
It is good if you train your cat from early age.
One of the problems with a kitten is that it might play too much with objects.
One good way to avoid this problem, is to buy a scratching post for them.
If you do not have a scratching post, at least get some rope
or another item that they can use as a scratching post.
The next thing, is to start to teach your cat to use the litter box.
Some cat trainers even recommend it, especially if
you have a cat that keeps spraying and other strange behavior.

And some good food

The biggest problem, when you have to leave your cat, is food and water.
So, it is important to be aware, that the next time you are going away,
it will be much harder to let your cat eat.
Also, when you are not at home, your cat might try to take the food and drink from your body.
