I am sure you’ve heard this cliché, “You can just ignore the negative thoughts and move forward,” many, many times before. Many of us have tried it and failed to focus our minds on more positive thoughts. Even if we manage to stay focused on our positive affirmations, they are often undercut by the daily barrage of negative thoughts.

Negative thinking can easily take over your mind. Most of us have been exposed to it from the news or even at work. It can often be subtle and hard to detect. Even if you notice it, it can often be overridden by more compelling thoughts or it can even be countered by things that you see as positive like a smile or a hopeful expression.

Negative thinking often leads to unhealthy attitudes, self-doubt and even fear. It can lead to depression and anxiety. It can also lead to a host of other health related problems and problems that we often struggle to identify. It is often the subject of much self motivation and self motivation courses.

Even if we manage to work through some of the negative thinking, we are often hampered by the habit of focusing on what we perceive as the negatives in life. It can cause a host of anxiety related symptoms like panic disorder, phobias, obsessive personality traits, fear, mood swings etc.

Positive affirmations and positive thinking can work hand in hand. There are many positive affirmations that we can repeat to ourselves or sing to keep us motivated. There are positive brain wave entrainment tools that can help us concentrate and entrain our mind to focus on positive thoughts.

It can also be challenging to keep up with positive thinking on our own. That is why many commercial products focus on helping us increase our focus and concentration. They also seek to entrain our mind to be focused on positive images or words that will produce specific behavior change.

How can I get over the negative thoughts?

Negative thinking can be as gradual as a creeping headache, or a sudden crisis like a panic attack, or as explosive as a heart attack.

It is not always easy to recognize the negative thoughts for what they are. That’s why the best way to get over negative thinking is to be aware of what you are thinking.

If you notice yourself thinking thoughts like “I’ll never be rich” or “I’m not good enough”, or “I’ll never find someone who will love me” you may need to listen to yourself and realize when you are thinking these thoughts.

These negative thoughts are the building blocks of a negative mindset. They are the things that you build into your thoughts and you will need to let them go.

Let go of the negative thoughts, and replace them with empowering thoughts.

You don’t have to or have to think that you’re good enough. You don’t have to be that unhappy. You don’t have to live in a constant state of fear or anxiety. You don’t have to let your co-workers put you down or your boss hate on you. And you certainly don’t have to be jealous of other people’s accomplishments.

Just replace the negative thoughts with empowering thoughts. What images or words help you to say to yourself, “I am qualified, I am smart, I am good, I am independent, I am able, I am loved, I am happy, I am fulfilled? All of these words or images are creating positive thoughts in your mind.

You need to accept all of these positive thoughts as part of your reality.

When you replace the negative thoughts with the positive ones, and you keep repeating this process, eventually the negative thoughts will disappear.

You will notice that your mind becomes so much clearer and at the same time so chaotic will become your normal. And the more you repeat this process, the less you will notice what is going on and the easier life will become. Eventually everything will just be as it needs to be.

At the same time your mind will grow peaceful and relaxed because you understand and accept the truth of the reality that you live in. You will understand and accept that the darkness was your hiding place, that you need to get into the light to survive. And at the same time you will understand and accept that the light is your shelter, your refuge, your heaven.

This is how you live your life.
