I have never been a big fan of failure. In fact, I don’t like it at all. It’s one of those things that make me feel bad about myself. I am always looking for ways to avoid failure and if there is a way to do so, then I will find it.

For example, if I am going to a party and I know I’m going to be the center of attention, I will get my hair done before I go so that it looks perfect. If I know that I’m going to be asked a question at an interview and I don’t know the answer, I’ll practice answering the question in my mind until I can give a good answer.

My life in high school

When I was in high school, I had a teacher who was a great teacher. She would ask us to write a paper on something we were interested in. For example, she would ask us to write a report on what we thought of the state of the world or how we felt about our life. We would spend hours writing our reports and we would turn them in. However, there was one student in particular who was not very good at writing. He would come to class with a piece of paper and hand it to the teacher saying that he was not sure if he should turn it in because he wasn’t sure that it was any good. The teacher would look at the paper and say, “Well, let me see it.” And the student would say, “I don’t know if you can read it. I’m not sure if you can read English.” The teacher would say, “Well, you need to figure out if you can read it and then decide if you want to turn it in or not.” This went on for several weeks. Finally, the student said, “All right. I’ll turn it in.” And he would. He never had any problems turning in his papers.

The college years

In college, I took a course in creative writing. The professor would often ask us to write a story based on a certain theme. We would spend hours writing stories and then we would hand them in. There was one student in particular who couldn’t seem to write anything worth reading. He would write a story and then hand it in and say, “I don’t think this is any good.” We would tell him that it wasn’t any good and he would tell us that it was. He didn’t seem to realize that he could just keep writing until he got one that was good.

Even in my working years

In business, I have worked with companies where I would be hired as a consultant. My job was to help them improve their operations. I would meet with the management team and they would show me their operations. I would make recommendations to improve the operation. They would implement the recommendations and then I would leave. Sometimes, I would go back to visit them and find that they had improved their operations. Other times, I would go back and find that they hadn’t changed anything. I would ask them why they hadn’t changed anything. They would tell me that they didn’t have enough money to hire consultants to help them.

I have also worked with clients who have asked me to help them increase their sales. I would meet with them and give them suggestions on how to improve their sales. They would implement my suggestions and then I would leave. A few months later, I would go back and they would tell me that they had increased their sales. I would ask them why and they would tell me that it was because I had helped them to improve their sales.

I don’t like failure. I don’t like it when people don’t know what to do. I don’t like it because I don’t like being the center of attention. I don’t like it if I don’t know the answer. But I also don’t like to fail. I don’t like to be embarrassed. So I have learned to overcome the fear of failure.

conquering the fear of failure

Here are some tips that I use to overcome the fear of failure:

1. Know what you want.
Don’t try to change what you don’t want. You can’t change what you don’t know. So first, you need to know what you want. Write it down.

2. Write it down again.
What do you really want? What are your goals? Do you want to be rich? Do you want to be famous? Do you want to have lots of friends? Write it down.

3. Write it down again.
Write down everything you want. Don’t forget anything. If you want to be rich, then write down everything you want to do to become rich. If you want to be famous, then write down everything you have to do to become famous. Write down every goal you want to achieve.

4. Set small goals.
If you want to be a millionaire, then set a goal of making $100,000 per year. If you want to be known, then set a goal of getting 100 new customers each month.

5. Get feedback from others.
Find people who are already successful and ask them for advice. Ask them what they did to become successful. Ask them what they would do to become successful.

6. Be willing to learn.
Learn as much as you can. Read books. Go to seminars. Watch videos. Listen to tapes. Talk to successful people. Ask questions.

7. Do whatever it takes.
Don’t quit until you get what you want.

8. Have fun.
Don’t take yourself too seriously. Have fun. Enjoy life.

These are just a few tips that I use to overcome my fear of failure. I hope these tips help you to overcome your fear of failure. Also please share this post if you think it can help someone else and also let us know what you think in the comment below.
