One thing you should know is that the roast and flavor of your coffee is
only as good as the beans that they’re roasted in.
The beans that you choose to buy are important as they will determine the final flavor of your coffee.
But in selecting the beans for your coffee roast, you want to look for those that are not overly acidic.
This is important as this will give your coffee a good balance and flavor in the cup.
Also consider acidity as well as body, as these are some important components to the overall flavor of your coffee.
You can select either a light or dark roast, but avoid the very dark roasts as they have poor balance and no body.

About the flavor of your coffee

Gourmet coffee has been roasted for a longer period of time.
This is important for people who like their coffee to retain the flavor of its water when brewed.
It is true that a dark roast of coffee can be a bit harsh to the taste,
but the dark roast can make for an enjoyable espresso.
But when purchasing gourmet coffee, you want to make sure that the roast is in the Medium range.
It should fall in the Low-Light-Mid-Medium category. But if you find a gourmet coffee that has a Medium roast,
then be aware that this will be quite acidic and will lose its richness over time as it is brewed.
A Medium roast is best for espresso, and this is usually the roast that coffee houses use.

Once you’ve selected the gourmet coffee roast, and if you prefer your coffee to be flavored with syrups or powders,
you’re almost done. Now you just need to get all of the ingredients you need. As gourmet coffee can be quite expensive,
you should get the coffee grinds at least halfway down of your list of things to buy.
You can easily go through a hundred dollars worth of grinds in a month.
That means, if you drink coffee three times a day, you will have to purchase a whole pot every day for a whole month.
It is a very expensive hobby!
Get the grinds from your coffee supplier and grind them immediately before you make your coffee.
This will save you a lot of money! Get the coffee grinds and the coffee that will be needed when you decide to brew.
For espresso, use espresso ground that is two weeks old. For Turkish coffee, use Turkish ground that is two weeks old.
If you make your coffee in one go, then the coffee grounds are not needed.

Preparing the coffee for brewing

When you prepare your coffee for brewing, make sure the water used for the brew is not colder than the coffee grounds.
Too cold and the taste of your coffee will be harsh and a bit funky.
It is best to use the full amount of coffee grounds for a brew. If you prefer it stronger, then use more grounds for the brew.
It is also good if the water is not really hot, but just lukewarm. This can improve the taste of the coffee.
You can adjust the temperature of the water to your own preference.

Brewing and the brewing method

You can choose to use a filter, plunger, drip, or a percolator. It depends on your own taste and convenience.
As a general rule, the cheaper espresso machines use a filter. You put coffee grounds in the filter, fill it with water,
and then turn the pump on. You will see the coffee go down into the chamber.
You push the plunger down to separate the grounds from the water.
If you use a percolator, put the seeds in the basket, add some boiling water, and then turn the control to the On position.
When the water boils, then you push down the plunger to separate the coffee from the water.
If you are using a drip machine, then place the grounds in the drip basket,
add water to the reservoir, and then turn the control on to brew.
The coffee makes its way down the tube and then you push the control to the Pour position
to have a freshly brewed coffee in your mug.

Your coffee is done when you feel the resistance at the bottom of your mug.
You have to push the control to the Vacuum position to stop the coffee going down the tube.
When you start brewing again, push the control back to the Start position.

The best flavor of the coffee is extracted from beans that are just under the boiling point,
but under one hundred degrees Fahrenheit. But the bitterness should be gone by the time
you push the control to the Start position. You should have a drinkable coffee and that means you have made it correctly.
If the temperature is too high, the coffee will taste burnt or burnt after the first pull and that’s never nice.

This is how to make excellent espresso using your espresso machine.
