In life, you will experience times where you feel like you are in a slump. You have hit a wall in your personal development and don’t know why. You have no idea what happened to you to cause you to experience a slump. But you will realize that you are human and mistakes have been made, and you will learn from those mistakes and move forward. But if you don’t have self-awareness, you will only feel like you have hit a wall in your personal development and you have no idea what to do about it.

What is Self-awareness?

Self-awareness is your ability to observe your thoughts and feelings, and introspectively identify why you do certain things or feel certain ways. It is your ability to identify your values and beliefs, and how they relate to your actions, reactions, and behavior.

Self-awareness is also your ability to identify your limitations. How can you be self-aware when you have no idea why you have done something? Self-awareness is also your ability to decide what you can and cannot change, based on the limitations you have assessed. If you are self-aware, you will decide what you can change, and not let these prevent you from taking action.

The way you do something is not necessarily the right way. The goal is to figure out ways to get the results you want.

How can I increase my self-awareness?

The easiest way to get started is to just sit quietly for 10 minutes. Close your eyes, and try to focus on nothing but your breathing. Do this until you feel relaxed and comfortable. Next, think about something that has made you happy in the past. The item may be an event that you had the opportunity to attend, or a feeling that you had when you used to read a book. Whatever it may be, try to identify what made you happy in the past. This event or feeling will help you to remember your value. Once you have identified this value, try to identify what you need to change to achieve this experience again.

Sit quietly until you feel refreshed and ready to go. Make sure you drink water to flush the toxins out of your body. Make sure you eat something during this time, as you will burn a lot of calories doing this. Take a mental note of each item that comes to mind that will help you self-awareness. This list can be your daily habit of self-awareness. Look to review your list at the end of the day to identify anything that you have forgotten. Try to see what changed, and what stayed the same, and what is new.

Don’t just listen to your gut, see what comes up, and be aware of it. Listen to your heart, it always knows what is right. When you have identified something new, write it down. Don’t just think about it, write it down, be aware of your body sensations, feelings, and emotions. They will come up during your day, and will tell you what is coming up, and what you should do.

By changing your thoughts, you will change your reality. It is time to stop focusing on your problems, and focus on your solutions. You may even forget your problems, but if you focus on them, they will come back to you. To stop thinking about your problems, first focus on what you want. What do you want to achieve this day? Focus on your purpose of life. What will your life be like when you have achieved it? Imagine it, and live it. You can achieve this at any moment, and you will feel the power of your own actions. You will do it even if you do not believe it is possible. You will feel as though you have no fear. It will feel as though you have the power to do anything, and everything, without fear.

Focusing on your own success is not enough. The key is to take action to get what you want. If you want a new car, buy one. If you want to lose weight, do something today. If you want to be a better parent, read books, do therapy, volunteer, improve your social skills, keep up with your business, set aside time for reflection.

Your life will change as you change your thoughts. What you focus on, stays in focus. And you have to take action to make change. You have to take action to focus on your dreams, and change your thoughts. By focusing on your problems, and focusing on your solutions, you will be able to achieve the dreams you have.
